Introduction

Digital photography is the standard of present day photography. For the past four years, digital camera sales have exceeded analog cameras, which most models are no longer being manufactured.
Professional photographers switched over digital cameras for various reasons: they offer the same features than traditional cameras, and they also present a series of advantages to take into account.

The most outstanding features of digital photography is the ability to print out your photos immediately, without taking the film out to be developed to see the results, and taking more pictures without replacing the film.

At present most photo processing laboratories have high quality printing systems available which allow you to transfer digital copies to photo paper; this makes taking pictures with a digital camera as effective as doing so with a traditional analog camera

Digital photography has particular features as to the lens types, the chips that are used, the available memory size, the zoom, the speed rate when downloading a photo, the film sensor reloading, among others, which makes the technique different from the others.
Classical film cartridges are substituted by memory chips in order to store the pictures, and film speed (measured in ASAs) is substituted by the photoelectric sensor sensitivity (measured in ISOs). So, in a professional digital camera we can change the sensitivity for each picture, whereas in an analog we will need to change the cartridge. And this is just only one of its many advantages.

Digital photography has culturally changed the use of photography: snapshot taking, spontaneous photography, speed, photo sharing on the Internet, motion clip, etc. All this has revolutionised photography and has made digital photography picture taking more and more popular than using an analog camera.

Thousands of newly photographers have moved to digital photography and, when it comes to make a career into professional photography, they are able to work from the start in the digital field.

Who should take this course?
